Open an RSP or TFSA
You can now open an RSP or TFSA plan through online and mobile banking. This convenient, new feature allows you to do more with your money without stepping into a branch or picking up the phone. Please note, to add a registered product, a plan must be opened first.
Open a plan (This step can be skipped if adding a product to an already opened plan)
- Log in to Online Banking
- Under Products & Services, select Add product. This will direct you to an Add product pages where you will see a list of Products followed by Plan options.
- Open Plan directs you to the Open a plan page where you can choose the plan you’d like to open (RSP or TFSA) from the dropdown menu. Select,
- Cancel to stop adding a plan. Select
- Continue to proceed.
- Once a plan has been selected, download and read the Plan Declaration of Trust and the Authorization and Agreement documents, and agree with the terms and conditions of your plan by checking the confirmation box. Select,
- Cancel to stop adding a plan.
- Continue to confirm the plan.
- Confirming the plan details is the last step in opening your plan. Review the Plan details and select
- Cancel to stop adding a plan,
- Back to make edits, or
- Continue to open your plan.
- From the Complete Open a plan page, review your plan details and find out more about adding beneficiaries. You can choose to,
- Print or
- Navigate to other pages within online banking including,
- Homepage
- Transfer Funds
- Send e-Transfer
- Request e-Transfer
- Pay Bills.
Now that you have successfully opened a plan, you can Add a product.
Add an RRSP or TFSA product
- Log in to Online Banking
- Under Products & Services, select Add product.
From the list, click on View products of the (RRSP or TFSA) product you’d like to add to be directed to an Open a RRSP or Open a TFSA page to choose between an RRSP Investment Savings, TFSA Savings or Registered Term deposit account. Select,
View Details to learn more, or
Get started to begin the open a product process.
From the Open an account page you will see your available plans and select the radio button for the plan you’d like to add the product to.
To help you choose the right plan, the plan list only includes Individual plans. includes plan information like:
RRSPAccount holder, the name of the registered plan holder,
Plan number, the registered plan number,
Spousal* plans are plans where funds are contributed/deposited by the plan holder's spouse.
Locked* plans are plans where funds originated from a registered pension plan.
*In the RRSP Plan list, Spousal and Locked plans say “No,” meaning they are individual plans and not spousal or locked.
TFSA
Account holder, the name of the registered plan holder,
Plan number, the registered plan number
Scroll down the page if you’d like to personalize account name by renaming it.
Under Funding details, enter initial amount you’d like to deposit and the source account.
If opening an Investment Savings RRSP or TFSA, no funds need to be deposited.
If opening a Term Deposit RRSP or TFSA, funds must be deposited.
Download and read the Deposit Agreement and Service Fee documents and accept the term and conditions of the account by checking the box beneath them. Select,
Cancel to stop the product opening process.
Continue to proceed.
Review, confirm the details, and read the disclaimer* for the product you are opening.
Cancel to stop the product opening process.
Back to make edits.
Continue to add the product.
*If not adding funds, the disclaimer will not appear.
Your account set-up is complete! Under the “All set! Your new account is ready” page message,
Review the account details,
Print, email, or export the details by pdf, or
Navigate to the homepage or other online banking pages.
Open a plan
