Toronto, ON – September 20^th, 2024 – We are excited to announce that nineteen student members of Alterna Savings are recipients of Ontario Credit Union Foundation's (OCUF) CU Succeed Youth Bursary this year, with a collective award of $21,500. The Alterna awardees represent nearly a quarter of all 2024 bursary recipients.

Frugina Ball, Alterna's Region Head of Member Experience in the Greater Toronto Area and Vice Chair of OCUF, expressed pride in supporting students through initiatives like the CU Succeed Youth Bursary. "This year's award recipients have demonstrated exceptional determination and dedication in pursuing their goals while also making significant contributions to their communities as emerging leaders. We are excited to celebrate this diverse group of students and applaud the positive impact they are making as they continue on their educational paths."

About  the OCUF Bursary
The OCUF bursary is awarded annually to students who demonstrate community leadership and engagement and need financial assistance to pursue post-secondary training and education. Submissions are assessed by a 9-member review panel and measured on community involvement, personal circumstances, letters of reference, and the quality of their essay or video submission. Amounts range from $1,000 to $3,000; a total of $100,000 awarded in 2024.
