How to set up account and security alerts
If you forget your username or password, you can recover them in digital banking.
Under Profile & Preferences, My Alerts you can manage your account alerts and notifications to help stay on top of what’s happening with your money.
Types of alerts
- Go to My Profile and Preferences in the navigation bar along the top of online banking. Under the My Alerts heading, select,
- Transactional notification,
- Security notifications
- New bill payee
- New e-Transfer recipient.
About Transactional notifications
- Transactional notifications can be set-up for each of your accounts. While notification options vary by account type, here are some notification examples:
- Low balance
- Approaching credit limit (set balance limit)
- Account overdrawn
- Insufficient funds for scheduled transfer
- Insufficient funds for scheduled bill payment
- Debit card use (set balance limit)
- International ATM withdrawals
- Direct deposit
- Withdrawals (set balance limit).
- Select Subscribe notifications when done to activate.
About Security notifications
- The Security notification you subscribe to will be applied to all of your profiles. Alterna has defined some notification as required. You cannot unsubscribe from these types of notification, but you can change the channel in which they are received.
Set-up notifications for:- Login
- Change password (required)
- Lock user
- New biometric registration (required)
- Lock password
- Login a new device (required)
- New secure message
- Select Subscribe notifications when done to activate.
About Bill payee notifications
- The Bill payee notification alerts you when a new bill payee is added to your profile. This alert is mandatory, and you cannot unsubscribe from this type of notification.
About New e-Transfer recipient notifications
- The New e-Transfer recipient notification alerts you when a new e-Transfer recipient is added to your profile. This alert is mandatory, and you cannot unsubscribe from this type of notification.

- Select Profile and settings from the list.
- Select Alerts & notifications and choose a notification type from the list,
- Transactional notifications,
- Security notifications,
- New bill payee,
- New e-Transfer recipient.
