How to Accept an Interac e-Transfer® Request
Accept and fulfill an e-Transfer Request quickly and conveniently through online or mobile banking.
IMPORTANT: Only accept e-Transfer requests from someone you know and trust. Do not accept requests from unknown Request Money senders or if you suspect it may be a scam.
The money will be transferred immediately and cannot be cancelled or reclaimed.
- You will receive an email from Interac containing the e-Transfer request.
- Review the request details to ensure they are correct.
- Follow the prompts in the email to accept the e-Transfer request.
- Choose the financial institution (Alterna Savings or Alterna Bank) from which the funds will be debited, then click “Accept Request.”
- Log in to your account:
- Clicking "Accept Request" will open the online banking login screen.
- Enter your username and password to log in.
- Fulfill the e-Transfer request:
- Once logged in, the Fulfill Money Request page will open.
- Select the account from which the funds will be debited.
- (Optional) Enter a message in the provided field.
- Check the box stating, "I know this sender, and I wish to pay the requested amount."
- Proceed with the payment:
- Click “Continue” to proceed to the Confirm page.
- Click “Continue” to proceed to the Confirm page.
- Confirm the transaction:
- Review the transaction details and click Confirm.
- Review the transaction details and click Confirm.
- Complete the one-time passcode (OTP) verification:
- You will be asked to verify your identity using an OTP. The OTP will be sent to your mobile phone (via SMS) or email address that you have on file with Alterna.
- Enter the OTP in the designated field and click Continue to finalize the request.
Note: Ensure your contact information (email and phone number) is up-to-date in your banking profile to receive OTPs without delay.
7. Transaction confirmation:
- A confirmation screen will appear, showing the successful completion of the e-Transfer.
- You will have the option to print, email, or export the confirmation details.
- You will receive an email from Interac containing the e-Transfer request.
- Review the request details to ensure they are correct.
- Follow the prompts in the email to accept the e-Transfer request.
- Choose the financial institution (Alterna Savings or Alterna Bank) from which the funds will be debited, then click “Accept Request.”
- Choose your platform:
- When “Accept Request” is selected, you will be prompted to continue either via the mobile app or the mobile browser.

- Log in to your account:
- Depending on your selection, log in using:
- Username and password (mobile browser)
- Biometric authentication (mobile app, if enabled).

- Select the account from which the funds will be debited.
