Despite facing homelessness and living in a shelter for almost two years, she remained determined to forge her own path. "Starting over wasn't just about relocating," she reflects, "it meant rebuilding my life from scratch."

Education became her foundation for change. Simpson pursued her dreams step by step, earning a diploma in paralegal studies, followed by a degree in legal studies and a Master of Arts in criminology and social justice. Her acceptance into the University of Ottawa's Faculty of Law in 2018 marked a hard-won milestone – but the journey was far from over.

Persistence in the Face of Adversity
